School Official Takes $800k Pay Cut For Kids, Teachers
Larry Powell, superintendent of the Fresno County school district, has decided to set aside $800,000 of his salary over the next three years in order make it available in case mandatory budget cuts threaten teacher’s jobs.
“I’ve got a great retirement, I’ve had a great life, and the community has given to me an awful lot,” he said. “How about giving something substantial back?”
Powell also said several teachers in his school district are doing the same thing.
