A Small Win for Religious Freedom
More on the temporary injunction at Christian Newswire
In a small win for religious freedom in America, Catholic Charities of Illinois was granted a preliminary injunction allowing them to continue their foster care and adoption efforts in spite of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services’s efforts to discontinue their contracts. But it remains to be seen if the Illinois charity will be able to retain its religious freedom in the long term.
Catholic Charities refuses to place children with people who are not in an opposite sex marriage. The judge in the case will rule on the merits in August, so it is still possible that Catholic Charities will become the latest organization in a growing list to be stripped of its religious freedom because of the gay rights movement.
